Why did she have to bring all of this up? Couldn’t the girl just run away and forget that she had even encountered him in the first place? Most people tried their hardest to get away from Acton, to stay away from him and never ever look back. Others wanted to hunt him down and get revenge because Acton had probably embarrassed them by beating the crap out of them or insulting them in some other kind of way. So why in the world was she so persistent, why did she keep staying here asking questions that Acton didn’t want to answer? All he wanted was to be left alone!
I am not broken! Acton said emotionlessly knowing that what he was saying was a lie. Acton had been broken many times within his life. When he was 4 years old he fell from a tree and broke his arm, when he was 10 he got in a fight with his brothers and broke his nose, when he was 12 he broke his leg after jumping out of his dorm window to sneak out, and in the past few years Acton has been broken more times than imaginable. But those were all physical injuries, this girl was talking about something different and Acton knew it because it was true, but not. He wasn’t just broken, but shattered. He couldn’t survive to be broken again, because if he was hurt anymore the fragments of his heart would become nothing more than dust.
And why do you think I don’t want to be scary? Acton said a maniacal grin crossing his lips as he stepped closer to emphasize his point. Of course he wanted to be scary! If he was scary then people stayed away, it was the whole point of scaring people away. Nobody wanted to be near a towering wall of muscle that would rather punch you in the face then have a conversation because that was a frightening concept. However this girl’s fear was still somewhere there, but it wasn’t as prominent anymore. Why couldn’t she just be scared of him and leave him the hell alone?!
Do not act like you know me. Acton growled, he couldn’t take this girl anymore, she wasn’t like everyone else that would’ve run away and that left Acton with one choice. It was the fundamental thing that you learn when you’re training to be a Guardian. Even Acton learned this even though now he had no desire at all to become a Guardian. Without hesitation he turned around and walked away, he didn’t dare look back because he knew he would see that curious girl wanting answers to her questions, wanting to know him. Acton couldn’t let that happen, so he did what he usually didn’t do and walked away.
